What We Did Today: Round #3

To Your Lawn

  1. Warm Season lawns (Bermuda and/or Zoysia Turf) received a liquid application which consisted of a balanced liquid fertilizer that contains the latest in polymeric science and acts as a nutrient delivery system for the plant. This product holds the proper nutrients, does not leach from the soil allowing for longer more balanced feeding without the dramatic spikes you find from other fertilizers. This allows the plant to use less water and be healthier. A post-emergent to control any broadleaf weeds that may have germinated was also included in the round. Products will work best if watered in within 10-14 days.
  2. Cool Season lawns (Fescue) received a liquid application which consisted of a balanced liquid fertilizer that contains the latest in polymeric science and acts as a nutrient delivery system for the plant.

To Your Tree & Shrubs (If you are a Tree & Shrub Customer)

What you need to do until our next visit

  1. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division, even though a level four drought response has been put into effect in the northern third of the state, homeowners are allowed to water their lawn the day of a chemical application by a professional. Please check with your local government, as they may be implemented additional restrictions.
  2. If you have Bermuda or Zoysia, MOW your lawn. You should be mowing weekly right now; this promotes lateral growth and a dense canopy on your turf. This also suppresses any weeds that may be present in the turf. Proper cultural practices are just as important as the products we put on your lawn, if you are not mowing you are going backwards right now.
  3. If you have Bermuda or Zoysia, call the office to sign up for aeration. Your turf needs it, especially this year as it will be able to better handle water uptake and will have improved rooting within 2 to 3 weeks, as well as increased fertility uptake within 7 to 10 days. It is very beneficial.
  4. If you have Fescue, you will want to raise the deck on your mower to mow no lower than 3 inches and it is fine to start getting the Fescue up to a height of 3-4 inches getting ready for the summer heat. Also be on the lookout for brown patch fungus as we head into summer. If you see brown circling in your yard, call us, you may need a fungicide application.
  5. Look for insects or disease on your plants, if something pops up between visits on the Tree & Shrub program, give us a call, we can come back and take a look and retreat for pests such as Japanese Beetles. If you are not on the Tree & Shrub program, look to protect that investment, give us a call.
