What We Did Today: Round #4What We Did Today: Round #4 To Your Lawn: 1. Warm Season lawns (Bermuda and/or Zoysia Turf) received a granular application which consisted of a fertilizer that will build plant health and feed the plant for the next 6-8 weeks with the poly coated slow release formula. A post-emergent to control any broadleaf weeds that may have germinated was also included in the round. Products will work best if watered in within 10-14 days. 2. Cool Season lawns (Fescue) received a Dolomitic Limestone application which adjusts soil pH, improves physical soil condition, and increases nutrient availability. To Your Tree & Shrubs (If you are a Tree & Shrub Customer):
What you need to do until our next visit: 1. - Non-Drought Rules in Effect Effective June 1, 2010, the Georgia Water Stewardship Act allows watering daily between 4:00 pm and 10:00 am with automated irrigation systems, hand watering (without a shut-off nozzle) and Lawn Sprinklers. There is an odd/even schedule (Even: Monday, Wednesday Saturday and Odd: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) with NO HOURLY RESTRICTIONS for car washing at home, charity car washes, hosing driveways, outdoor cleaning, pressure washing by a homeowner and for topping off pools. Watering that is classified as allowed anytime by anyone includes commercial pressure washing, drip irrigation or soaker hose, food gardens, hand watering (with a shut-off nozzle), Hydro seeding, installation and maintenance of an irrigation system, irrigation of newly installed turf (for the 1st 30 days), irrigation of public recreational turf areas, irrigation of plants for sale, irrigation of sports fields, water from a private well and water from an alternate source such as grey water, rain water or condensate. When you water, please try to water in the early morning as you want to keep moisture off of the leaf blade as long as possible with the present risk of brown patch and dollar spot. If you start your irrigation system at say 4 AM you are perfect, if you are hand watering start as early as you can. Try not to water in the late evening as this keeps moisture on your grass for most of the night. 2. With the recent heat wave you will want to raise the deck on your mower to mow no lower than 3 inches for your Fescue and you will want to start bringing up your warm season turf a few notches also. Also be on the lookout for brown patch fungus on Fescue and Dollar Spot on Bermuda. If you see brown circling in your yard, call us, you may need a fungicide application. 3. Look for insects or disease on your plants, if something pops up between visits on the Tree & Shrub program, give us a call, we can come back and take a look and retreat for pests such as Japanese Beetles. If you are not on the Tree & Shrub program, look to protect that investment, give us a call. If you have any questions concerning your lawn, trees, shrubs or our service, please call our office Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm at 770-534-7755. If you call after hours, please leave a message and your call will be returned.
