Pro Touch Landscapes has embarked on a new business venture that will serve craft beer and wine lovers in Northeast Georgia.
With the latest changes in city alcohol ordinances the owners of Pro Touch thought a business venture featuring craft beer growlers and specialty wines would be an amazing concept for a new local business.
Tap IT will open in the next month and will feature 29 taps including craft beers and ginger ales along with craft and specialty wines.
“We kind of fell into the popularity craze …” Zack Thompson, co-owner of Pro Touch Landscapes, told The Gainesville Times in an interview from Aug. 5.
Construction has already begun on a growler bar, coolers will be installed soon and customers will be able to purchase growlers to-go just in time for football season!
Plenty of bar accessories are already available like SPARQ wine pearls, whisky rocks and slate vodka shooters along with a selection of Govino shatterproof wine glasses and other accessories.
Tap IT will be located in the same building as Pro Touch Landscapes’ retail store, which is located on 1850 Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville but will have a different feel than the barbecue area and gardening portion of the store.
Tap IT will be the first growler location in the city of Gainesville, which is a trend that has really taken the craft beer world by storm in recent years.
But what is a growler?
A growler is essentially beer-to-go and a standard growler is 32 oz. or 64 oz.
“Or a 1/2 gallon of fresh cold beer,” according to Brad Sample, co-owner of Pro Touch Landscapes and Tap IT. “We will have glass and plastic growlers, as well as a 32 oz. version. The public can taste three 1 oz. pours in our location, each visit.”
Once the growler is capped, it can be stored for about 36 hours.
The Tap IT craft beer selection will include pale ales, microbrews and lagers along with seasonal varieties.
For example, one of the most popular growler beers in the craft beer world right now is the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. The bourbon barrel ale is an award winning craft brew and aged for at least six weeks in bourbon barrels from Kentucky distilleries and boasts an 8.2% alcohol content.
The Monday Night Bed Head is a coffee pilsner brewed at Monday Night Brewery using coffee from the Batdorf & Bronson coffee roasters.
Another featured beer will be Star Hill King of Hops which is an Imperial India Pale Ale and brewed with hops from the Pacific Northwest. The brewery, based in Charlottesville, Va., says that the fresh aroma of the pale ale highlights citrus flavors including orange peel, grapefruit, passion fruit along with gooseberry.
The craft beer selection at Tap IT will change throughout the year depending on the season along with the trends of the industry. Beer enthusiasts will always be able to try something new each time they stop by Tap IT!
